Household Hints - Easy Way to Perfect Boiled Eggs

I've finally found the easiest way to get perfectly boiled eggs every time! (I love boiled eggs - from using them to make deviled eggs or to use in egg salad sandwiches OR just to eat on their own for a big boost of protein!)

Here's the way to make perfect hard cooked eggs:

  1. Place eggs in a saucepan, and cover with cold water.
  2. Add a splash of white vinegar to the water. (This prevents the eggs from leaking out of the shell in case the shell cracks.) I also add a pinch of kosher salt.
  3. Bring the water up to the boil - JUST to the boil.
  4. Turn off the heat, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid and allow to sit on the burner for 14 minutes. (Make sure to use a kitchen timer to time this properly.)
  5. Place the saucepan in the sink, pour out the hot water and run cold water over the eggs until they're cool enough to handle and peel.

Voila - perfect hard cooked eggs!

Household Hints - Cooking Hints - Freeze Leftover Stock or Broth into Cubes

Freeze leftover homemade stock or broth in an ice cube tray, and then transfer the frozen stock cubes into baggies for storage. This makes it so easy to add a little bit of homemade stock to recipes that call for stock or broth cubes - you can use your delicious homemade stock instead!

Make sure to label the baggies so that you know what type of broth you have frozen inside.
